This half-day session will develop staff understanding of the autism spectrum and how children with autism may experience the world. It will provide practical strategies for working with pupils on the autism spectrum in the mainstream primary classroom. Suitable for all staff that support children in school. It may be of particular relevance to SENDCos, class teachers and teaching assistants working with a child with autism.

Description

Comprehensive autism training and insight for primary school staff who are working with children with autism or complex communication and interaction needs in a mainstream setting. This half day course will develop staff understanding of the autism spectrum and how children with autism may experience the world. We will explore a range of resources and strategies that can be used to support children with autism and provide practical strategies for working with pupils in your classroom.
Suitable for all staff that support children in school. It may be of particular relevance to SENDCos, class teachers and teaching assistants working with a child with autism.

Outcomes

The course will develop your understanding of:
  • the AUTISM spectrum and its diversity
  • how a pupil with autism may experience the world.
  • practical strategies to support pupils in the mainstream classroom.
  • how to improve practice
