Kirklees public libraries have continued to increase the range and quality of their e-book and e-audiobook service and now offer an extensive collection of homework topics to children and families. These are free to borrow and open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Kirklees – all they need is a Kirklees library card.
Teachers can recommend this service to parents during the lockdown period and on their return to school as an alternative to borrowing physical books from the classroom. Our free e-book service can help to support children with reading at home and the wide range of topics available can help with children’s learning and ability to complete homework topics around history, science, the environment, coding, sport and much more. We understand that not all families have access to wi-fi or Internet enabled devices, but for those who do then using Overdrive through the free, user-friendly Libby app can help to reduce the number of physical resources travelling between home and school.
We have created videos showing how to set-up an e-book account, plus the library team are available by phone, e-mail and social media to help. For those who don’t have a library card, these can be set up online, which allows borrowers to start reading straightaway.
If you need more information about the free e-book and e-audiobook service, please get in touch. We can organise video calls, screen sharing opportunities, and presentations to help get someone started.
